- The Body Grows Outside
Artist book with digital prints and colored pencil
2020
Swimming provides physical, spiritual and emotional refuge. To swim is to play both under the mirrored surface and in the shadows of depth. The pandemic has helped to define and amplify my need to take shelter in water, in swimming. In 2020, I participated in an online international artist residency program hosted by Proyecto 'Ace in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Entitled, Together Apart, we were presented with thinkers, artists and practices based on the idea of shelter. I created The Body Grows Outside, inspired by conversations and image sharing with Los Angeles artist Caia Diepenbrock and Croatian graphic artist, Ana Vivoda.
